About this experience
Shape and craft your own customized knife. Choose the type, sharpen the blade, engrave your name in Japanese or sakura leaves on the handle and attach it with a hammer. A unique indoor activity in the heart of Tokyo featuring beautiful Japanese art of making knifes!
What to expect
Put on a samue (traditional Japanese workwear) provided by our crew and immerse yourself in the experience of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Sit down, enjoy some tea or juice, and learn about the history and cultural significance of Japanese knives and swords from a friendly Japanese master. Choose the type and size of knife you’d like to sharpen (up to four types are available, some for an additional charge). Sharpen the blade and discover the meditative art of knife sharpening, a process that requires focus and can help relieve stress. Our English-speaking crew will guide you, offer personalized advice, and help you perfect your technique. You’ll also have the opportunity to chat with locals and learn more about Japanese craftsmanship. If you’d like to bring a friend or family member to observe without participating, an observation fee will apply and can be paid on site.
